The Quality Control Technician performs a variety of microbiology
tests and sterility checks to assure culture media products
produced by Anaerobe Systems meet established standards, customer
specifications and quality goals. The position assists and provides
back up to the Product Quality and Development Manager as
designated. The position provides minor support for special
microbiology projects and media production operations. The position
requires previously acquired microbiology skills and knowledge
obtained thru a college biological science degree program.
Anaerobe Systems manufactures products which are primarily sold to
hospital laboratories for identification of anaerobic bacterial
infections. Culture media and anaerobe chambers sold to biotech
laboratories, universities and research institutions may be used in
clinical trials with results published in research reports. Because
of this effect, technical accuracy and integrity when assessing
product quality and reporting problems are of the upmost importance
in the Quality Control Technician's work habits.
No prior work experience required. A degree in biological sciences
required. Must have microbiology lab experience.
1. Prepares reagents and biological stains; performs and records
results for a variety of complex microbiology identification
2. Sets up and completes quality control tests for each lot of
culture media prior to release to the Shipping Department; record
results and determines disposition (pass/fail).
3. Verifies and documents quality control results for designated
instruments and monitoring devices (i.e., pH meter, calipers) in
the media production area.
4. Assist the company with new product development, product
testing, or other research and development projects by following
experimental procedures and recording data using general
microbiology skills and methods.
5. Maintains an orderly and clean workplace.
6. Assists with anaerobic microbiology training for customers who
attend Anaerobe Systems chamber training/workshops or for other
