2024Postdoc Positions at UCSFPopulation: Life SciencesThe Yue Lab
is seeking postdoctoral fellows to join the newly established team
at the University of California, San Francisco. Affiliated with the
Department of Physiology and the Neuroscience Graduate Program, our
research investigates the complex interactions between neural
tissues and bodily fluids. We focus on regions surrounding the
brain's ventricles, where the unique absence of a typical
blood-brain barrier facilitates direct chemical exchanges between
the brain, bloodstream, and cerebrospinal fluid. Our objective is
to understand how cells at these critical interfaces regulate
signals like hormones and metabolites and to uncover their
contribution to neurological disorders. Our research goals
include:
- Developing precise genetic and viral tools to target specific
cell types in the areas around the brain's ventricles and central
canal.
- Deciphering cellular and molecular pathways using advanced
techniques in transcriptomics, electrophysiology, imaging, and
pharmacology to understand their roles in physiology, pathology,
and response to injury. We are committed to supporting the growth of
postdoc researchers, providing tailored mentorship aligned with
individual career goals. Postdocs will have opportunities to
explore new techniques, participate in collaborations, attend
conferences, present their work, and engage with the broader
scientific community. Strong support is available for career
development, including support for fellowship and grant
applications. International scholars are warmly welcomed.UC San
Francisco seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or
community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment
to diversity and excellence. The University of California is an
Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified
applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard
to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity,
national origin, disability, age or protected veteran status.
Postdoctoral Scholars will be eligible for generous benefits
including supplemented health insurance and University housing in
San Francisco .Job Requirements:
- Possess a PhD in Physiology, Neuroscience, Cell Biology,
Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion and dedication to research,
coupled with a readiness to tackle challenges.
- Priority will be given to candidates with experience in brain
slice electrophysiology, voltage or calcium imaging, mouse disease
models, protein biochemistry, and cell culture.
- A CV in English, including the contact information of at least
three referees.
- A brief summary of your past research and future interests. We
are a new research lab in the Department of Physiology at UCSF. We
study how the brain communicates with the rest of the body,
focusing on regions around the brain ventricles that are uniquely
positioned to interact with both the vasculature and cerebrospinal
fluid.
