About the Role As a Product Designer on Applied's design team, you will be responsible for designing new products from the ground up as well as new features for our flagship products. You'll lead the design process from concept through implementation, proactively engaging with our customers for their feedback every step of the way. You'll collaborate closely with PMs, engineering, and other designers to ensure we're solving the technically complex engineering challenges of our users with elegant UX solutions. What you'll do at Applied:

• Lead the end-to-end design of new features across multiple products with continual releases
• Shift seamlessly between creating whiteboard sketches, wireframes, implementation-ready designs, and GitHub issues
• Work closely with engineers to quickly iterate on functionality and ensure implementation meets design spec
• Run usability studies with our customers, collaborating with PM to incorporate customer feedback into product roadmaps
• Build a culture of trust, critique, and inspiration within the design team through thoughtful contributions What we look for:
  • 5+ years of relevant product design experience
  • Experience shipping software
  • Ability to thrive in a technical environment
  • You approach problems from every angle, creating an array of solutions that show a deep understanding of trade-offs and key objectives
  • You methodically untangle ambiguity, communicating when it's appropriate to question, create, or build within constraints Nice to have:
    • Experience in the autonomous vehicle industry and/or enterprise software
    • Experience creating user research studies and strategy The development of autonomous vehicles (AVs) is one of today's most rapidly evolving and technically challenging engineering endeavors. The goal of Applied's design team is to make the process of bringing autonomy to market faster, safer, and easier by creating the world's most innovative and intuitive AV development software.
