Job Description:
Underdog Pharmaceuticals is a pharmaceutical startup -
developing drugs targeting the diseases and disabilities of aging.
Underdog is looking for an exceptional in vivo research
associate/senior research associate to join our team. Underdog is
engineering drugs that can bind and reverse the pathological
effects of oxidized cholesterol implicated in atherosclerosis and
several other diseases of aging. Our 1st drug candidate is moving
rapidly towards human clinical trials. We are in search of an in
vivo research associate/senior research associate to participate in
the design and execution of in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo assays
establishing safety and efficacy of compounds destined for clinical
evaluation. Applicants should have a BS or MS degree in
biochemistry, cell biology or a related biomedical field and
substantial independent laboratory research experience (in addition
to laboratory course work) with the following techniques:
Rodent handling (primarily mouse, rat experience is secondarily
desirable)
Animal husbandry
Maintenance of genetic knockout strains
Normal upkeep of vivarium (cage changes, animal monitoring,
etc.)
Administration of test compounds (iv, ip, sq, and im injections and
oral gavage)
Blood collection (cardiac puncture, submandibular)
Necropsy (organ removal and examination, fixation of samples for
histological analysis)
Rigorous upkeep of laboratory notebooks
Laboratory reagent and solution preparation
Additional experience in the following techniques will strengthen
applications:
Mammalian cell culture
96-well plate assays using a plate reader spectrophotometer
Fluorescence microscopy imaging
Experience working with cholesterol and other natural and oxidized
sterols
