Come join the team that makes this happen.FTE1Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours80Work ShiftDay: 8 hoursJob DescriptionReporting to the CFO, the Assistant Vice President will lead and oversee accounting, finance, financial reporting, internal controls, expense management, and revenue /reimbursements. This position provides collaborative leadership, vision and support to drive strategic initiatives and accomplish organizational goals. The AVP will be a leader of leaders expected to challenge, develop, and coach the finance / accounting leaders toward continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and ensuring compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting / Finance The Assistant Vice President will oversee corporate accounting and payroll functions and provide support to El Camino Hospital, and related entities. Additionally, the Assistant Vice President maintains appropriate general accounting systems and accurate financial transactions for El Camino Hospital, El Camino Healthcare District and other related entities and coordinates with the financial auditors on the completion of the annual audit.The Assistant Vice President manages the Accounting team to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounting functions including the following:Implementation of internal control processesAnnual external audit process and any other Third Party AuditsMonth-end Close ProcessAccounts Receivable ReportingGovernmental ReportingReimbursement ModelingClinical Trial AnalysisSupport for the corporate compliance program and hospital-wide net revenue budget.Provides Oversight and Management of Accounting Functions and audits (i.e., ensures use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to maintain all accounting systems incorporating accounts payable, cash management, general ledger, fixed assets, payment posting and payroll, produces system reports in a timely manner adhering to a 13 period accounting cycle, evaluates and updates policies and procedures for the recording of assets, liabilities and financial transactions for El Camino Hospital and its Affiliates.).The Assistant Vice President applies the principles of accounting to maintain the general accounting system of the hospital. Leads special projects including process improvements. Assists with budget preparation, and financial statements. Reviews and leads the preparation of hospital's financial records, and provides accurate and timely financial information. Prepares and provides supporting documentation for and inputs assigned journal entries. Researches and analyzes fluctuations and variance between current and prior period budgeted amounts.Leads team to prepare and provide CFO with variance analysis and support for variances. Is the responsible for all the day-to-day efforts and interfaces with the financial auditors on the completion of the annual audit.Revenue and ReimbursementsOversees Revenue and Reimbursement function which includes sound financial management and accurate accounts receivable reporting, governmental reporting, third party audits, reimbursement modeling, clinical trial analysis, Medicare / Medi-Cal cost reports and support for the corporate compliance program and hospital-wide net revenue budget.Provides support to accomplish organizational goals and to maximize reimbursement and develop and maintain effective systems for managing and reporting revenue.Oversees management of revenue and reimbursement reports and recovery projects (i.e., Consults with Revenue and Reimbursement staff on adjustments to fiscal period reserve levels recorded in the Balance Sheet and Operating Statement, ensures appropriate policy, procedure and system changes necessary to reduce future financial risk, oversees audits, develops appropriate reserve levels related to recovery projects, works to resolve ongoing reimbursement issues.)Provides oversight to the annual Medicare, Medicaid and Third Party Audits and Appeals (i.e., meets key dates and provides acceptable work products as outlined in work plan, audits system generated reports and data sources for accuracy, alerts management to potential problems, keeps complete and clean documentation, implements recommendations in a timely manner.)QualificationsMaster's degreein Accounting, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration.Ten(10) years of accounting /finance experience.Eight (8) years of management/leadership experience.Big Four accounting firm audit experience preferred.Strong accounting skills, including understanding of GAAP Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze/interpret data Familiarity with accounting systems, and familiarity with hospital or governmental accounting.Demonstrated success managing multiple, complex projects focusing on process improvement.Strong business acumen with ability to influence decision making.Strong interpersonal skills including consultative, written and presentation skills.Proficient in use of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience with implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) platform.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to the healthcare industry and financial reporting.Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook, experience with integrated accounting software.License/Certification/Registration RequirementsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions of this job are available.
