Join us and play a critical role in our mission.About the RoleYou will research and implement advanced signal processing algorithms for Nuros 77-GHz radars to extract information about the robots surrounding environment. Youll prototype state-of-the-art automotive radar algorithms, and develop novel ones specifically suited for Nuros autonomous robot needs. Youll analyze and fine tune algorithms and implementations, and make them really work for a large fleet in a wide variety of driving conditions.About the WorkDesign and validate signal processing algorithms for detection, tracking, RF calibration, parameter estimation, and interference mitigationAnalyze algorithmic complexity, optimize for memory and processor requirementsTune those algorithms to make good tradeoffs between precision and recallDevelop evaluation methods to characterize the efficacy of the DSP algorithms for the entire Nuro fleet in multiple-city operations, identify performance bottlenecks and debug down root causesCollaborate in the antenna design process from spec to testing, to ensure the radars get the data needed for your algorithmsWork with embedded software engineers to implement the DSP algorithms in hardware acceleratorsWork with robot perception engineers to make the best use of radar data in tracking and sensor fusionAbout YouMasters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Experimental Physics, Math, or a closely related field5+ years of relevant experienceDSP and numerical analysis, e.g. fourier transforms, digital filters, matrix algorithms, optimizationDeep knowledge of radar algorithms, e.g. phased array antenna designs, beamforming algorithms, MIMO radar multiplexing algorithms, CFAR, parametric spectral analysisComfortable researching and developing novel algorithms for non-traditional radar operating conditions Experience with rapid numerical prototyping in Matlab or pythonHave the independence and grit to investigate and debug signal processing artifacts due to RF hardware or algorithmic root causes.Can write clear, complete, and useful documentationEnjoy taking initiative and working with multidisciplinary teamsBonus PointExperience with optimization algorithmsExperience with probabilistic estimation algorithmsProficiency in C or C++Experience with multiple target tracking algorithmsExperience with hardware/software development and product life cycleRead and understand PCB schematic and layout documentsAt Nuro, we celebrate differences and are committed to a diverse workplace that fosters inclusion and psychological safety for all employees.
