Ability to exercise technical judgment in solving software engineering challenges. About the job Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams. The Ads Privacy and Safety team is responsible for the privacy, safety, and sustainability of the entirety of Google's Ads' platform. As the Technical Program Manager Lead, Ads Privacy and Safety, you will lead projects that have huge implications for Google Ads and our users. The goal of the multiple projects that our team runs is to help shape and comply with policy and regulations, providing users, advertisers, and publishers with the transparency and controls that they need to feel safe and increase trust in interacting with Google. You will work with Product Management and Engineering teams across Ads, Security, Android, Research, and others to drive cross-functional programs and projects that improve end users' trust and protect them against scams, fraud, abuse, and misinformation, and ensure advertisers have a fair and good experience and help unlock tremendous growth opportunities. Users come first at Google. Nowhere is this more important than on our Advertising and Commerce team: we believe that ads and commercial information can be highly useful to our users if that information is relevant to what our users wish to find or do. Advertisers worldwide use Google Ads to promote their products; publishers use AdSense to serve relevant ads on their website; and business around the world use our products (like Google Shopping, and Google Wallet) to support their online businesses and bring users into their offline stores. We are constantly innovating to deliver the most effective advertising and commerce opportunities of tomorrow. Responsibilities Lead and coach program management team members on program management in this area. Set up a program to better organize and improve execution within Ads, including stakeholder identification, prioritizing and synthesizing areas to focus on, owning project progress, bringing transparency to stakeholders, and periodic readouts to Ads executives. Lead projects and products built by Ads Privacy and Safety engineering. Streamline and improve current processes including scoring and management, headcount allocation and distribution, capacity planning, software development practices, and help bring project and program execution best practices to bear across the board.
