ABOUT USWe are a well funded and rapidly growing startup in the hardware and software design space, working to solve the bottlenecks -in the next generation of datacenter infrastructure and -founded by a team of experienced innovators.SUMMARYWe are looking for talented, high-energy and highly collaborative Linux System Administrators with experience managing linux boxes at scale to help us build and manage our fleet of machines and our company infrastructure. The role requires familiarity in -building automation around the management of containers, VMs, and physical machines in our datacenter and labs. From bringing up new machines to debugging issues in production and figuring out how to prevent them from happening again. From configuring a system to be effectively shared by multiple users and applications, to tuning the operating system for better isolation and reliability. From figuring out how to address our storage needs, to rolling out services for our infrastructure and users to use.The position requires physical access and weekly presence in our LAB in Mountain View, CA, 94043. We will not be able to accommodate remote candidates.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate:

• Is effective at writing scripts and automation. Doing things is not enough: -does not rest until the task can be automated with a shell script, a python utility, or a golang sidecar or operator. Strong with shell scripting, has -experience in at least another language (golang, python, C++, perl, ...).
• Understands the ins and outs of a linux system, understands containers, -package management, isolation of tasks and users, -does not fear using creative solution to manage terabytes of data or to allow real time monitoring of jobs and logs.
• Has set up and managed racks of linux boxes before, is comfortable working on physical machines and equipment in our LAB and our office, as well as using technologies -like -terraform to manage VMs on GCP or AWS.
• Can effectively debug and pinpoint issues affecting our linux boxes. From issues with the file system, to some internal service causing unexpected behaviors on the -machine itself.
• Is comfortable setting up and making linux hosts -available to multiple users. From automated account setup and management, to configuring pam, nsswitch, ssh certificates, groups, file system, namespaces for the needed -isolation, as well as using tools like puppet to manage and distribute configuration changes.
• Would be comfortable writing monitoring consoles based on prometheus, grafana, and cloud monitoring tools, as well as setting up and handling alerts from pager duty (availability outside -working hours not a requirement).
• Can help with day to day needs to help our teams succeed. Things like gsuite configurations, SSO, checking out logs to track down an event, or occasionally help -setup switches or other equipment needed for our infrastructure -to run.
