As a member of this team, you have the unique opportunity to develop and implement Google's strategy to protect, defend and capture the value of its patents. You dive into varied and interesting tasks that include patent-related protection, licensing, dispute resolution (pre-litigation and litigation), acquisition, deals and policy work. You work with engineers, product developers, executives and other legal team members, and are responsible for managing outside counsel.As Technical Advisor in Google's Patent Engagement Readiness Team (ERT) within Strategic Engagements and Transactions (SET), you will work on the most exciting legal and technical issues related to disruptive technologies implemented by Google. You will work with a group of talented patent professionals to obtain freedom of action for Google, and ultimately enable our company to bring great products to the world. You will report to the Head of ERT and will be an integral part of the team tasked with supporting transactions to clear risk, evaluating Google and third-party patents with respect to engagements, acquiring and divesting patents, and guiding the proactive development of Google's portfolio to prepare for potential engagements. 20th century laws don't always solve 21st century problems, and Google Legal crafts innovative approaches for working with some of the toughest legal challenges of the information age. Responsibilities Enable Google's freedom to operate by providing technical support to attorneys on patent cross-licenses, licenses, acquisitions, divestitures, agreements with patent pools, and defensive patent aggregators, and related patent transactions.Work with other members of Google's Patent Team, business clients, and other internal stakeholders to conduct business intelligence and evaluate the applicability of Google patents to potential threats.Conduct in-depth technical analysis of Google and third-party patents and prepare and review claim charts.
Prepare valuation models for various patent-related transactions.Leverage internal and external patent analytics tools and Machine Learning-enabled technologies to efficiently conduct technical analysis.
