Surgical Tech Location: Berkeley, CA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,256 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Surgical Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum two years recent acute care hospital experience in surgical technologist role, with documented competency to scrub major procedures in at least three surgical specialties preferred. License: Valid State License required Certifications: BLS, CST preferred Must-Have: Proficient in Ophthalmology, Cataract, and Vitrectomy. Description: Certified OR Tech needed for 4x10 shifts. On-call shifts required on weekends as needed. Must have experience in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Robotics, and Ophthalmology. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist participates as a member of the perioperative team. Performs direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients undergoing surgical and endoscopic procedures and assists anesthesia personnel. The primary focus of this position is the scrub person role. Must be able to participate in planning and provision of perioperative care for patients in various life stages. Works on a flexible schedule as assigned. Weekend shifts are assigned on a rotating basis. Assists in selecting supplies and equipment for surgical and endoscopic procedures. Collaborates with the circulating nurse to prepare the operating room for surgical procedures. Responsible for securing instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Opens sterile packages using sterile technique. Provides scrub services for minor surgical procedures and competent scrub services for major procedures in at least three surgical specialties. Assists the surgeon in applying casts and splints. Assists the circulating nurse during major surgical procedures. Sets up specialized surgical equipment under the supervision of an RN. Assumes responsibility for the care of specimens while on the field and communicates information to the circulator for documentation. Assists in transferring the patient to a postoperative bed or gurney. Performs operating room sanitation tasks. Cleans anesthesia machines after use and changes breathing circuits. Demonstrates competency to operate all specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment unique to surgical services. Serves as a preceptor to personnel rotating through specialty services. Attends and actively participates in continuing education classes and in-services. Commits to unit and department goals. Contributes to organizational effectiveness by adhering to hospital policies. Demonstrates commitment to customer service and adheres to the code of conduct. Promotes patient and staff safety.
