Chart preparation includes: Chart assembly/cleaning, scanning and indexing paper documents into the legal medical record timely and accurately; preparation and tracking of fetal monitor strips to off-site storage using chart tracking software; performing quality assurance on scanned images, documenting quality findings and acts as department receptionist on off-hours to include answering phone calls; also prepares productivity reports using Excel. Adheres to all ECH and HIM policies and procedures. The HIM Specialist I will be required to work occasional weekends and holidays as scheduled. May be required to work alternate shifts / alternate campuses and others duties as assigned to meet operational needs of the department.QUALIFICATIONS:1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Experience with basic office equipment3. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.4. Experience working independently.5. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.6. Attention to detail in order to differentiate text and numeric sequences.7. Basic understanding of hospital HIM operations.8. Experience in Health Information Department or other healthcare area preferred.9. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.10.
