Position Overview:The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care.Qualifications:MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation, including Licensure / Certification / Registration* Current CA RN License Required* Current CA Nurse Practitioner License Required* Master's Degree Required* BCLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) Required* National Certification Required - Need to Confirm* ACLS certification PreferredExperience* 2-5 years of previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred and will vary based on department needsSkills and Knowledge:* Thorough knowledge of nursing process and/or surgical procedures* Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology* Working knowledge of electronic health records such as EPIC, preferred* Critical thinking skills as it relates to specialized departments this may include the ability to complete age-appropriate assessments* Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and listening) with ability to work effectively across the organization, especially in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, consulting and advising* Technical and analytical skills for analysis and interpretation of test procedures and results in order to determine appropriate correction actions* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate across the organization and with patients and their families as needed* Ability to effectively lead, mentor and/or develop others* Math aptitude skills: i.e calculation of drug doses* Computer skills to include entering accurate information into practice management and electronic health record* Ability to lift and position patients properly using best practices* Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions* Active listening skills* Ability to sit or stand for long periods* Applies mental application and concentration to handle varying procedures and interruptionsOrganization: Palo Alto Medical FoundationEmployee Status: RegularBenefits: YesPosition Status: ExemptUnion: NoJob Shift: DayShift Hours: 8 Hour ShiftDays of the Week Scheduled: Monday-FridayWeekend Requirements: NoneSchedule: Full TimeHrs Per 2wk Pay Period: 64
