Technical Program Manager, Field Product Quality

  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a Product Quality or Sustaining Quality role.
  • 3 years of experience in a Technical Program Management role.
  • Experience with Product Quality fundamentals including 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action. Preferred qualifications:
    • MS or PhD degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
    • Experience in debug, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation.
    • Experience with consumer electronics products.
    • Experience with advanced data analytics (e.g. statistics, statistical modeling, queries, dashboarding, predictive analytics). About the job Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus. As a Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's progress and deadlines. You will work with a team of experts from diverse fields (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Design, etc.), advocating for Product Quality and Engineering activities ranging from product development through post-launch field issue resolution. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all the quality aspects of the product launch and sustaining lifecycle. You will ensure that your team operates to the highest quality standards, and that all corporate business requirements, regulations and other standards are met. You will also apply intensive, self-directed, and diversified knowledge of engineering, quality, and program management principles to Google's hardware devices, services, and systems. You work closely with new product introduction Product Quality Technical Program Managers and a broad cross-functional team to mitigate field risks and product detractors pre and post launch. You collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Design Engineers, Module Engineers, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to dive deep into technical problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action. Your work ensures the various pieces of device and service infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our products humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. Responsibilities
      • Act as the voice of the customer for Google products. Establish product quality metrics and goals, and develop monitoring and reaction protocols.
      • Use field data to drive quality improvements through cross-functional quality improvement forums focused on influencing manufacturing process, design, software / firmware, and customer support stakeholders with data, risk analysis, and applied expertise. Identify field issues to drive root cause analysis and corrective action working with cross-functional teams.
      • Convert product weaknesses and customer satisfaction detractors into mitigation and improvement feedback to stakeholders. Develop methods to improve customer satisfaction and product quality.
      • Apply program management expertise to planning and execution of large-scale Product Quality sustaining programs from product development through end of life.
