Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time,

Are you an experienced Ad Writer who is passionate about making a
difference? Would you find it exciting to work with smart and
talented individuals committed to producing great journalism in the
public interest? Can you commit (a minimum of) 10 hours per week to
our mission, working remotely on your own schedule with our
far-flung, diverse team?
We are seeking an experienced job description language specialist
to help our organization recruit the most talented skilled
volunteers. Ideal candidates will have high-level talent
development skills and strong organizational skills to manage the
process and workflow. The position will blend copywriting,
research, and talent acquisition knowledge into a single role on a
dedicated Ad Writing Team. The Ad Team would work directly with
Talent Acquisition and Hiring Managers to build the perfect
WhoWhatWhy is a nonpartisan, agenda-free news organization. Not
left-wing, not right-wing, not consensus-seeking. We report the
truth, whatever it is. We approach each story with an open mind,
boundless curiosity, and a willingness to dig deep beneath the
surface - and don't back away in the face of pressure from powerful
institutions and groupthink.
We are a nonprofit. We are not funded by a zillionaire. We do not
accept corporate ads. As such, we are only currently able to pay a
small core team, as well as experienced professional freelancers -
and rely primarily on skilled volunteers to fill out our growing

Commit 30 minutes/day (minimum)
Manage job description copy across all recruiting platforms
(JazzHR, Catchafire, VolunteerMatch, LinkedIn, etc.)
Own the job description creation process in Google Drive, from
opening the doc to passing it to the copy desk for a final
Continuously study our ad language and compare it to other ad
languages to maximize the number and strength of applicants.
Track trends in applicant numbers across all our platforms.
Review all JDs in Google drive and Jazz to make sure all template
language is up-to-date
Make sure all ads are ready for the agreed upon posting date
(follow a production workflow).
Collaborate with the Recruitment team.
Create ads for the entire organization, across every
3+ years copywriting experience, preferably within an HR
Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, and
concise language consistent with the brand.
Strong independent work habits; as well as the ability to
collaborate with a group.
Strong people skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.

You will be expected to attend your department's recurring
meetings. Beyond this, you will work on your own schedule. We ask
for a minimum commitment of 6 months for at least 10 hours a week.
Because our team is spread throughout the world, we rely on a
combination of Slack, email, and conference calls, and expect
everyone to be responsive in a timely manner.
