Our software solutions span three areas: investment management, client servicing, and data solutions. Backstop is adding a new strategic leadership role to our global Marketing organization. We are seeking a Director of Portfolio Marketing who will be responsible for enhancing our evolving go-to-market strategy and overseeing its execution for the entire portfolio of offerings including products, services and solutions. This role reports directly to the CMO and will manage our portfolio marketing talent. The role demands extensive collaboration with product management, demand generation, business development, sales, sales operations, and solutions consulting. Job Responsibilities:
    • Translate the company's business objectives, market opportunities and portfolio of offerings into a formal, cohesive go-to-market architecture
    • Partner with leaders across the business (e.g. sales, product, solutions consulting) to design an aligned set of strategies, tactics and resources that achieve corporate objectives
    • Provide insight and support to company leadership to inform the identification and development of new offerings (products, solutions or services)
    • Understand target buyer needs, market trends and the competitive landscape
    • Create a portfolio architecture aligned with the business strategy, and oversee portfolio strategy and rationalization
    • Build the go-to-market plan to support and grow the portfolio of offerings, including prioritizing and aligning target audiences, developing effective messaging and building content architecture
    • Create a sales enablement plan and oversee marketing contributions to drive sales' adoption of the portfolio
    • Oversee launch planning for new offerings - including an enterprise-wide process and template - that incorporates products, solutions and services where applicable
    • Ensure excellent audience planning, including but not limited to: gathering audience insights through persona interviews, mapping the demand unit, mapping the retention unit, mapping the buyer's journey, mapping the retention journey, and making sure that the downstream marketing teams are well-armed for successful campaign planning and execution.
    • Conduct routine assessments of the organization's go-to-market processes and address gaps in performance Leadership Responsibilities:
      • Manage the overall Portfolio Marketing team in support of the company's three product lines: Client Servicing, Investment Management, and Data Solutions
      • Provide mentorship and coaching to Portfolio Marketing team members to ensure their success in each of the above-listed product marketing responsibilities
      • Collaborate with internal resources and external agencies tasked with creating effective content for web sites, campaigns and sales enablement
      • Formalize processes, measurement tools and reporting structure to support the portfolio marketing team's goals
      • Manage the hiring, development and retention of portfolio marketing talent Experience and Skills Skills:
        • Formal leadership experience overseeing a complex marketing budget
        • Demonstrated success influencing C-level executives and cross-functional leaders
        • Strong background in business analytics, measurements and dashboards
        • Demonstrated skills in messaging and positioning offerings
        • Experience developing thought leadership to enhance a company's reputation in terms of expertise and innovation
        • Proven record of translating and articulating complex concepts into simple, clear, and engaging messages
        • "Servant leader" or "teaching" mentality
        • Ability to manage remote contributors and stakeholders effectively
        • Strong administrative and management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, programs and objectives
        • Ability to translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations

        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Qualifications:
          • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in business, marketing or related field
          • MBA strongly preferred
          • 10-15 years of professional B2B experience motivating and leading a diverse and distributed marketing team; global experience is a plus
          • 5-10 years of advanced experience with product line or business unit management strongly preferred
          • Collaborative personal style valuing teamwork and winning as a team
          • Highly organized, with good follow-through capabilities
          • Strong business acumen
          • Ability to navigate culture and politics across multiple functions to establish buy-in for go-to-market strategy
