ABOUT STANFORD UNIVERSITY AND RESIDENTIAL & DINING ENTERPRISES:
Stanford University, located between San Francisco and San Jose in
the heart of California's Silicon Valley, is one of the world's

world. Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), the largest
auxiliary organization at Stanford University, supports the

The department has an annual operating budget of over $350M,
operates 24/7/365, and oversees a $3B asset portfolio comprising a
7 million sq. ft. physical plant across the campus. In autumn
quarter of the 2021-22 academic year, R&DE will return to
providing housing for over 13,000 students and dependents, serving
meals at 17 dining halls, 12 retail locations, and operating
athletic concessions and conference operations. Additionally,
R&DE comprises 900 FTE staff in the following divisions:
Student Housing Operations, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality &
Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, Maintenance Operations and
Capital Projects, and a team of R&DE strategic business
partners: Finance & Administration, Information Technology, Human
Resources, and Strategic Communications. "Students (Customers)

role is currently designated as hybrid and may provide incumbents
with flexibility for partial telecommuting. Job Purpose Perform the
day-to-day management of a design and drafting team that supports
numerous facility-related projects for a large university housing,
dining, and hospitality facilities portfolio. Provide technical and
managerial guidance to subordinates and bring highly specialized
knowledge and expertise to high level administrative managers.
Offer a thorough knowledge of architecture practice and
develop/maintain design standards. Core Duties --- Lead and manage
a project design group, including recruiting, hiring, training,
developing, evaluating, and setting priorities. Provide instruction
on complex techniques and direction on projects. Evaluate the
effectiveness of the organizational structure and programs to
ensure success, development of employees, and appropriate use of
staff resources. --- Ensure design and drafting work completion
within schedule, budgetary and design constraints; make decisions
about analysis, design, and testing of assumptions; solve complex
technical problems; and provide alternative methods for achieving
goals when necessary. --- Create and execute business and technical
plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and
requirements. Evaluate and assess metrics and program
effectiveness; assess and proactively monitor trends. --- Make
independent decisions regarding projects, programs, and initiatives
within confines established by management. --- Develop and manage
budgets for work group. --- Oversee and/or assist in preparation
and submission of documentation, such as proposals, presentations
(color boards, sketches/drawings, samples, models, etc.), progress
reports, or other contractual requirements. --- Complete strategic
planning for own work group; may assist higher level management in
broader scope strategic planning. --- Establish and maintain all
furnishings and finishes standards. --- Lead design efforts and
space planning for both interiors and exteriors of a portfolio of
housing/dining/hospitality facilities consisting of 7 million
square feet across 300 buildings, including new construction,
renovations, and historic preservation. Facilities include college
dorms, historic houses, apartments for couples and families, dining
halls and serveries, commercial kitchens, and retail cafes. ---
Work collaboratively with colleagues to leverage the
university/school's resources for successful project completion.
--- Participate on and contribute to the leadership team led by the
Assistant Vice Provost for Maintenance Operations and Capital
Projects, Residential & Dining Enterprises. --- Champion and
further department's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
efforts, particularly in support of historically underrepresented
and disenfranchised populations. Minimum Education and Experience
Required Bachelor's degree in a related field, and five or more
years of progressively responsible, relevant project management
experience performing duties similar to those listed above or
combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required --- Experience leading and
managing an organization of technical design and drafting staff.

Demonstrated ability to organize work and to manage multiple
projects. --- Exceptional and effective written and oral
communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences. ---
In-depth knowledge and understanding of university operations,
administration, community, and mission. --- Ability to productively
assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams. --- Demonstrated
project management ability to employ integration, scope time
management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk,
and procurement components. --- Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy,
influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a
variety of situations. --- Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact
awareness. --- Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain
needed to deliver projects. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preferred --- Proficient in drafting software. --- Thorough
knowledge of architecture practice with emphasis on design,
building materials, construction methods, integration of
engineering disciplines, building costs/codes, and sustainable and
universal design. Certificates and Licenses Preferred ---
Architectural (AIA) Credential highly desirable and sought after.
--- Registered architect (RA) in the state of California. Physical
Requirements --- Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based
computer tasks and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10
pounds. --- Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand,
twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation and
lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. --- Rarely
kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach/work above shoulder, grasp
forcefully, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40
pounds or more. --- Ability to maintain a valid non-commercial
California Driver's license. --- Auditory acuity with ability to
hear horns and bells. --- Visual acuity with ability to determine
colors for finishes. --- Ability to climb scaffolding, ladders,
stairs etc. Working Conditions --- May work in active laboratories
or outdoor environments. --- May be exposed to extreme hot and cold
temperatures, be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or
electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA,
allergens/biohazards/chemicals /asbestos, or heavy metals or work
on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft. --- May drive vehicle day
and night. --- Must wear personal protective equipment as
defined/required by job assignments. --- May work extended hours,
evenings, and weekends. Work Standards --- When conducting
university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code
and Stanford University driving requirements. --- Interpersonal
Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford
colleagues and clients and with external organizations. --- Promote

learned. --- Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable

Administrative Guide. The expected pay range for this position is
$184K to $199K per annum or ( $88.46-$95.67 / hour). Stanford
